What do you look for when in the mood for some chillin'? A heavenly atmosphere? A voluptuous meal? A touch of class? Jacelyn Johnson awakes to the experience of lush simplicity when given the chance to wine, dine and unwind at Sevenatenine!

Situated in the heart of Kuala Lumpur at the Ascott Hotel, Sevenatenine is indeed an icon of the KL chic community! Its modern ambience welcomes you into a casual yet refined dining avenue. Sevenatenine has managed to bring life to the color white, as the decor, the walls, the sofas, the pillars and every nook and corner is clad with a simplistic yet elegant dash of white. This creates a rather cool and chic surrounding to give a total chill out experience.

The number seven plays a vital role at Sevenatenine. Well, considering the fact that it 'ate' nine. It is only sensible that it be given an imperative part to play. The number seven stems from the seven founders of the restaurant. Thus, it could be clearly seen in the menu that the number seven graces every item, especially in its prices.

The menu consists of seven samplers, seven starters, simply satisfying seven, seven sides and seven sins.

The most popular sampler would definitely be the Three Pepper Squid. This home-made dish is fried with a special blend of three different types of pepper and is served with cucumber salsa.

If you are just there to chill out and have a drink, you should not miss the opportunity to try out one of their seven samplers. The most popular sampler would definitely be  the Three Pepper Squid [RM12.70]. This home-made dish is fried with a special blend of three different types of pepper and is served with cucumber salsa. There is also the Crispy Risotto Patties [RM12.70], Classic Bruschetta [RM12.70], The famous Caesar Salad [RM17.00], Smoked Salmon and Dill Mousse [RM12.70], Light & Crispy 7atenine Garlic Pizza [RM14.70] and the Potage of Wild Mushrooms [RM10.70]

A meal would not be perfect if it does not start off with a starter. The Blue Leg Prawn Ravioli [RM19.70] is a must have. This dish most resembles our local dumplings, but it is cooked with a really savory sauce to give it a taste that sticks in your mind and gets you craving for more. The Grilled Goat's Cheese [RM27.00] is another distinct creation of the chefs at Sevenatenine. A generous amount of goat's cheese is baked on a small slice of walnut bread. This dish is served with sesame stick and shredded apple salad. Other starters include Salad of Smoked Duck [RM19.70], Carpaccio of Fresh Salmon [RM19.70], Pan Fried Foie Gras [RM37.00] and Vegetable Tempura [RM17.00]. There is also the Oysters 7 Ways [RM47.00]. One can choose to have their oysters with either Ebiko, black truffle, natural, Bloody Mary, lemongrass and ginger, shallot vinegar or sabayon.

Their Simply Satisfying Seven consists of the main dishes. The uniqueness of the dishes here is that although the meal is well done and garnished with heavenly tasting herbs, dressings and sauces, it retains the fine, fresh and clear taste of the meat itself. The Cod in White Miso [RM37.00] is a fine example where the inherent flavor of the cod itself gives a truly satisfying taste. This dish goes perfectly well with a glass of Hardy's OP Reserve Chardonnay [RM22.70].

The other fine Western cuisines include Rosemary Scented Double Lamb Cutlet [RM42.70] is another dish where the tangy sauce just adds the touch to bring out the original flavor of the lamb. Having a glass of Wolf Blass Shiraz [RM17.00] would be a good idea as it blends well with the taste of the lamb.

The Blue Leg Prawn Ravioli [RM19.70] is a must have. This dish most resembles our local dumplings, but it is cooked with a really savory sauce to give it a taste that sticks in your mind and gets you craving for more.

The Fillet Beef Rosinni [RM77.00], Star Anise Duck Confit [RM37.00] and Chicken Strip Skewer [RM19.70]. There are also two local dishes to give that Malaysian flavor. The Fried Sang Mee [RM22.70] is served with charred blue leg king prawn is amust try as it tastes as good as it would be out of a Chinese wok. Also available is the Thai Fried Tom Yam Prawn Fried Rice [RM20.70]. It may be sinful, but indulging in one of the seven sins [RM17.00 each] would raise your spirits straight up to heaven. They have the Creamy Custard Filled Profiterole, Créme Caramel, Flourless Chocolate Cake, 7atenine Fried Ice Cream, Baked Fresh Mango Pillow, Baked Chocolate Fondant and Macerated Fruit in a Vanilla Tuille Cone.

There is an exhaustive list of Champagnes, White Wine, Red Wine, Beers, Gin, Vodka, Whisky, Bourbon, Tequila, Brandy, Aperitifs, Liqueurs, Cocktails and Mocktails to choose from to enjoy while chilling out or having a meal at Sevenatenine. So next time you are around town, hit Sevenatenine to experience the latest chic and classy chill.
