So many bars, so little time []

The Blue Bar

Where is it? At the Taj Palace Hotel, the Taj Mahal Hotel's oft-neglected sibling. Move over, Rick's.

What's it like? Like a club-class airport lounge wearing its shiny Saturday best for a night out. If you can get past the ruby-red chairs, gilt chandeliers and mirrored screens, there's a lovely candlelit al fresco deck outside.

Drinks? Yes, please. Top-shelf spirits are the standard here, and there's a whole sheaf of heady classics - the Corpse Reviver, the Blood and Sand, the Monkey Gland. But almost everything's a winner here. Should you get the Asian whiskey sour with Japanese lemongrass-infused whiskey, the Open Sesame [sesame seeds muddled with vanilla sugar, honey, pineapple and Maker's Mark bourbon] or the Belgravia [Tanqueray gin, cucumber, elderflower and ginger]? Decisions are so hard.

Best seat in the house At the bar, where you can ask the superlative barkeep to trot out the special cigar infused bourbon or an absinthe gummi bear. Watch the transparent bar light up when you set your glass down. Yes, you're probably drunk.
